Gain essential knowledge about vitamin D with this e-course, part of an award-winning project proven to help increase confidence when discussing vitamin D… Enjoy a 30% savings to celebrate its latest update!
Our original Vitamin D Education Course, developed in 2022, was a core component of an award-winning presentation (see below). It aims to get the latest vitamin D public health science and best practice protocols, direct from world-renowned vitamin D researchers, into the hands of healthcare professionals and individuals… moving research into practice to impact individual and patient outcomes and population health, and potentially reducing healthcare costs across the globe.
While the newly updated (2026) and expanded vitamin D*education course, Moving Vitamin D Research into Practice: Addressing Vitamin D Deficiency to Improve Patient Outcomes, Population Health & Reduce Costs is great for ANYONE to take, nurses have the added benefit of receiving 11 CEs!
This course was created to help end the vitamin D deficiency epidemic by educating everyone on the latest research on vitamin D, importance of vitamin D for health, the steps each person needs to take in order to achieve their target vitamin D level, and the basic knowledge needed to answer the most common questions you might be asked about vitamin D.

Title: Moving Vitamin D Research into Practice: Addressing Deficiency to Improve Patient Outcomes, Population Health & Reduce Costs
Gap in knowledge addressed: The public and clinicians are unfamiliar with concepts of how to address vitamin D for health purposes. This course was developed to bridge this gap between current research and practice.
Current state of knowledge: There is much unfamiliarity with the current vitamin D research along with confusion resulting from outdated and miscalculated guidelines. This has resulted in a lack of understanding around vitamin D and how to address it in clinical practice, along with high rates of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency.
Desired state of knowledge: After learning about the latest evidence on vitamin D and related health outcomes, along with proper vitamin D levels and dosing, clinicians and individuals will understand how to best apply the science backed protocols for themselves and their patients so that optimal vitamin D levels can be achieved and maintained.
Course Outline and Content: The course consists of text, graphics, and videos. Each section is followed by a short multiple-choice quiz. There is a pre-test and a post-test to assess change in knowledge from taking the course. Course content includes:
- Introduction
- Vitamin D Deficiency is A Global Public Health Concern: The Scientists’ Call to Public Health Action w/ video
- Module 1: Building a Foundation of Understanding Vitamin D Deficiency
- Module 2: Vitamin D Scientists & Experts Address Concerns
- Module 3: The Consequences of Vitamin D Deficiency
- Module 4: How Do We Move Research Into Practice Now? Using Vitamin D Best Practice Protocols

Part of an Award-Winning Presentation
The educational content in this course is presented by GrassrootsHealth Nutrient Research Institute in collaboration with Beth S. Sanford, DNP, MSN-Ed, RN, ACN, CLC, and the NDNA and NDAND. Course content was reviewed and approved by senior vitamin D researchers and scientists.
The course was developed as part of Dr. Sanford’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) doctoral translational research project to implement vitamin D research findings into public health and practice. Preliminary results of the project were disseminated at the 2022, Fifteenth National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference in Tampa, FL, “Collaborating to Improve Healthcare Outcomes.” Results found that completion of a vitamin D toolkit, which included this e-course, a translational model, e-tools, and key resources (such as those found in the included Toolkit) significantly increased knowledge, confidence, and translation to practice and sphere of influence among nurses and dietitians.
Final results of this project were disseminated at the Health Professions Collaboration Conference: “Bridging Research with Practice,” hosted by the North Dakota Nurses Association, where the project won the award for Best Poster Presentation.
