Announcing a new collaborative partnership!

Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder, NOT a normal part of aging.

According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America

  • More than 6.2 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s
  • The number of Americans with Alzheimer’s is projected to surpass 13.8 million by 2060
  • More than 11 million American caregivers provide over 15.3 billion hours of unpaid care

In the United States alone, there are approximately 500,000 new cases of Alzheimer’s every year. The average life-time cost of the disease per case is close to $360,000, for a total of $180 billion per year.  Vitamin D and omega-3s could potentially prevent half of these cases – leading to $90 billion in savings each year!

What is Your Dementia Risk?

The Food for the Brain Foundation is a new collaborative research partner of GrassrootsHealth, who will soon launch the Alzheimer’s Is Preventable Campaign! They’ve already tested 375,000 people on their free Cognitive Function Test which calculates what a person’s Dementia Risk Index is and how to reduce it by targeting eight well established areas of risk. Many are well known to you – eating a low carbohydrate and glycemic load diet; more antioxidant rich plant foods; getting enough homocysteine-lowering B vitamins; optimizing brain fats from omega-3 to vitamin D; supporting a healthy gut; promoting good sleep and less stress; having an active mind and body. Targeting just one of these – lowering homocysteine with B vitamins – produced up to 73% less brain shrinkage, no further memory loss, and 30% of these people with pre-dementia ending the year with a clinical dementia rating of zero. No drug has shown any clinical dementia benefit and a maximum of 2% less brain shrinkage.

Add More Value to Your Score by Knowing Your Nutrient Levels

Measuring vitamin D, omega-3s, and other important nutrients and markers are soon to be added to the Cognitive Function Test tools and calculations – however, you can measure yours now when joining the GrassrootsHealth project.

Vitamin D, omega-3s, magnesium, HbA1c (a marker of blood sugar health), and hsCRP (a marker of inflammation) have all been linked to cognitive health and the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease.  Decrease your risk by measuring these levels and taking any steps necessary to assure they are within optimal range.

Create your custom home blood spot kit by adding any of the following measurements:

  • Vitamin D (Required & Recommended for Cognitive Health)
  • Omega-3 Index (with or without Ratios) (Recommended for Cognitive Health)
  • HbA1c (a marker of blood sugar health)
  • Magnesium (with or without additional Elements – copper, zinc, selenium, mercury, cadmium, lead)
  • hsCRP (as a marker of inflammation)
  • Homocysteine (coming soon!)
