The Sunlight Institute
Sunshine is free. No one sells it. There is no doubt that the benefits of regular sun exposure — highlighted by, but not limited to, vitamin D production — are among the most underappreciated of all preventive health measures available to us today. Consider: if a pharmaceutical company could patent sunshine, the marketing of UV science as we know it would be completely different. Instead of being told to cower from the sun, we’d be told to bask in it responsibly. The Sunlight Institute exists to change that — to shed some light on what should be incredibly obvious to us all. The UV Foundation also engages in efforts to increase public awareness about the affects of UV light. We hope that these efforts will lead to better public understanding of the calculus between benefits and risks of UV light and will create a synergistic effect in the research community, fostering the impetus to conduct more research.
