Dear Health Advocates:

Are you ready to prevent breast cancer NOW? A recent story from Canada was that there was a 94% greater probability of cancer recurrence in women with low vitamin D levels.

Must this continue? Can we stop breast cancer now?

This presentation will address what we really know, what we don’t, what current research is going on and what needs to be done. There will also be information presented about the latest model for how vitamin D prevents breast cancer, the DINOMIT model of Dr. Cedric F. Garland of the University of California San Diego. The focus is especially on what individuals can do safely TODAY to help prevent breast cancer.

The presentation will be delivered by Carole Baggerly, Director of GrassrootsHealth, a Vitamin D Education and Research Organization. Carole started a journey with breast cancer several years ago and came to the firm conviction that there had to be a ‘better way’ than the standard treatments--possibly there could be prevention?

There is a ‘Call to D*action’ from over 30 vitamin D scientists that recommends that everyone needs a vitamin D serum level from 100- 150 nmol/L. The D*action study has been initiated by GrassrootsHealth to both measure serum levels of individuals and track the health outcomes for 5 years. Currently over 2000 people are enrolled in the project. The initial data showed that over 50% were deficient in vitamin D. Some preliminary results from the project will also be presented.

Target Audience

The target audience for this activity includes all people interested in cancer prevention and overall disease prevention.

Objectives

At the end of the session, the participants should be able to
